Dear Friends and Fellow Pilgrims,
We are going to the Holy Land this coming February, and I want to invite all who are interested to join us. Very often I hear people tell me “We want to do that some day”. So here is a good opportunity for you to Walk In The Footsteps of Jesus! This year, we are offering the exciting extension visit into Jordan to see the amazing stone carved Rose City of Petra, Amman the Capital and the roman ruins of Jerash and to seen the remains of the ancient Christian presence in now a Muslim country. Our prices this year are very reasonable. You can sign up for the Holy Land part only, without the Jordan extension or both. Remember the difference between a Tour and a Pilgrimage. Yes, we are going to see and to wonder. And we are going to believe and to hope. Please join us!
Sincerely Yours In Christ,
Father Richard Mangini
Diocese of Oakland

Monday| February 20 - Day 11 | PETRA/AMMAN - This morning we wake up in the wonderful Rose City of Petra, the awesome city the Nabataean Arabs carved out of the rock during the four hundred years before roman rule. It could be defended by a handful of men because access was limited to the narrow fissure known as the ‘sig.’ We will travel that same way- the path Indiana Jones entered in search of the Holy Grail in the Stephen Spielberg classic The Last Crusade. We can either walk or travel part way by horseback. Afterwards, we travel north tracing the steps of Lawrence of Arabia along the famous Kings Highway. We stop at Mt. Nebo (entrance included) where Moses viewed the Promised Land but was forbidden entry. We will see the rich collection of 3rd to 7th century mosaics. We celebrate Mass here and then continue to Amman for dinner and overnight.
Tuesday | February 21 -Day 12| AMMAN Today we see the biblical city of Philadelphia – Amman – seeing the Roman Amphitheater and Citadel. We celebrate mass at a local parish church and also visit the beautiful ruins at Jerash, one of the Decapolis Cities, perhaps the best preserved provincial Roman city in the world. We visit the Jordan River where we will renew our Baptismal promises at the place visited by Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimage in 2000. Transfer to Queen Alia Amman airport for your flight back home.
Wednesday | February 22 - Day 13| USA We arrive home today with unforgettable memories to cherish always. Knowing we have walked in the footsteps of Jesus and the early Christians bring new meaning to our Scripture reading and celebration of Mass
